our goal

The Campaign to Make Delaware’s Kids the Healthiest in the Nation has two parts.  A behavior change component and a policy and practice change component.

Part 1: The behavior change component
This component focuses on helping children and parents live the 5-2-1-Almost None lifestyle.  This part of the Campaign provides tips and resources for families so they can live 5-2-1-Almost None in their home.

Part 2: The policy and practice change component
This component focuses on helping Delaware’s kids live the 5-2-1-Almost None lifestyle because they can’t do it alone.  We know that in order to see significant changes in the rates of childhood obesity that it will take the collective action of committed adults. Adults who are willing to step-up and help to create healthier environments for children.

Basically, this means:

  • Making healthier foods available in schools, child care centers and at home; as well as
  • Having more places available where children and their families can be physically active together.

With teamwork and dedication, we can succeed in making Delaware’s kids the healthiest in the nation.
